A NEW LEADER, NEW SEASON, RENEWED PROMISE, VISION AND DIRECTION FOR 21ST CENTURY ETHIOPIA

Ethiopians have welcomed the news of the inauguration the new Chairwoman of Unity for Democracy and Justice Party’s (“UDJP”) Ms. Birtukan Mideksa along with the entire leadership, requesting her to exert her utmost efforts to revitalize the democratic process, once again, and help Ethiopia embark on good governance, human rights and other democratic values. The first woman to lead a major opposition party in our history, former Judge and Vice-President of Kinijit, after a three years of dramatic debacles in her own party involving the former the 2nd vice chairman and chairman, harsh treatments by the government and other Opposition Parties, she was elected as the president of UDJP on June 18, 2008. Birtkuan has pledged to work ever harder and wiser upholding the interest and core values of our people and country.

I wish her the best and am sure she along with the entire leadership will deliver.
