Mitt Romney flip flops to the front of the GOP 2012 Presidential race

By David Phillips, Las Vegas Democrat Examiner

Former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney, who leads the pack of elephants running for President in the 2012 election, changes his thinking on issue after issue, from week to week, from election to election, and from audience to audience.

In a poll taken last week, after Chris Christie said he would not run, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney jumped to the lead among the U.S. Republican presidential hopefuls.
The Quinnipiac poll released last Wednesday, shows Romney leading with 22 percent of the support among Republicans and those who lean Republican; Herman Cain with 17 percent support; and Rick Perry, the current governor of Texas, with 14 percent support -- a 10 point drop in five weeks.

Below are six examples of what Mitt Romney use to say and what he currently says (Flip Flopping).

1. On Roe V. Wade
“I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years that we should sustain and support it. And I sustain and support that law and the right of a woman to make that choice.” “And that is why, as a pro-life Republican, I am in favor of having the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade.”

2. On Government Auto Industry Loans
“That's exactly what I said. The headline you read which said ‘let Detroit go bankrupt' points out that those companies needed to go through bankruptcy to shed those costs.”
“I'm not willing to sit back and say, 'Too bad for Michigan, too bad—too bad for the car industry, too bad for the people who've lost their jobs. They're gone forever.”

3. On The Recovery Act
“I think there is need for economic stimulus. Americans have lost about $11 trillion in net worth … And government can help make that up in a very difficult time.” “I have never supported the President's Recovery Act... No time, no where, no how have I supported the President's stimulus.”

4. On How President Obama Handled The Recession
“He didn’t create the recession, but he made it worse, and longer.” “I didn't say that things are worse.”

5. On Health Care
In Massachusetts, “[I] was able to put in place a plan that helped get health insurance premiums down, and gets all of our citizens insured. If we can do that nationally, we help ... the entire nation." “One thing I’d never do is impose a state’s plan on the entire nation, that makes no sense. I’ll repeal Obamacare.”

6. On President Reagan
“I was an Independent during the time of Reagan/Bush. I'm not trying to return to Reagan/Bush.” “The right way for America to proceed when we face the kind of challenges we face is to pursue the strategy which Ronald Reagan pursued when we faced the challenges of the last century."

Zenawi calls jailed Swedish journalists terror accomplices

New York, October 11, 2011--Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi's public accusations on Monday against two imprisoned Swedish journalists compromise the presumption of their innocence and predetermine the outcome of their case, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today. The journalists were arrested in Ethiopia in July and charged with terrorism for associating with armed separatists. more
